Features: "Fundamentals of Computer Applications" is an introductory course designed to teach learners basic computer knowledge and develop their computer application skills. Its content focuses on fundamental computer knowledge, basic concepts, and essential operational skills, while also incorporating the use of practical software and cutting-edge knowledge in computer application fields. The design of the course content should not only consider fundamental computer knowledge and basic concepts but also emphasize the application of practical technologies. The nature of the course determines that only by liberating thinking, continuously updating, and boldly eliminating outdated and backward content, while also taking into account the bigger picture to some extent, can the course and textbook maintain a stronger vitality and adapt to the ever-evolving needs of modern computer technology and knowledge. "Fundamentals of Computer Applications" is a public foundational course at the Radio and TV University. Students from different disciplines, such as science and engineering, finance and economics, and humanities and law, have varying knowledge bases, environments, conditions, and fields of study. However, the ultimate goal is to master basic computer knowledge and be able to use microcomputers and practical microcomputer software. Therefore, the course content and teaching methods should be arranged to as closely meet the needs of various beginners as possible. A modular structure design can, to some extent, cater to the learning needs of different learners. With the innovation of modern educational technology and the development of distance education technology, especially as the teaching focus shifts from teacher-centered to student-centered, emphasizing autonomous and individualized learning with one or more media to complete the learning content, the teaching methods and use of teaching media in "Fundamentals of Computer Applications" must be closely coordinated and adopt the following appropriate teaching strategies to ultimately achieve the goal of helping learners master basic knowledge and develop application skills:
- Select and prepare learning activities, content, and different media resources based on teaching objectives;
- Pay attention to the cognitive process and learning patterns of students, dividing the teaching process into smaller, independent steps, with each step covering only a small number of knowledge points, and carefully arranging and completing the progress of each step;
- Ensure students immediately know the results of each learning step to enhance their interest and confidence in learning;
- Provide appropriate face-to-face guidance to help students solve common problems;
- Emphasize the importance of hands-on practice to help students recognize that the nature of the course is to cultivate practical operational skills. Without hands-on practice, they cannot master the course content or achieve their learning objectives;
- Strengthen the management of each teaching process, paying attention to the sharing of learning resources and the use of media.
