The book consists of 40 lessons, with only 10 lessons retained from the second edition, while the remaining lessons are selected from major American and British newspapers and renowned news journals between 2000 and 2004. These include The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, USA Today, The Times, The Sunday Times, The Financial Times, Time magazine, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, Business Week, Fortune magazine, and The Economist. The content covers news on social, cultural, political, and other topics, as well as reports and commentary on major world events. To align with China's national policies of "economics as the center" and "rejuvenating the nation through science and education," the third edition has added lessons on economics, science and technology, education, and talent. Based on my past teaching experience and the exam questions I have created, the lower volume of this book includes "Some Notes on Exams for External Journal Lessons" and a set of "Reference Questions."
