How should varicocele be treated to recover quickly?

Patient's question:

When I was taking a shower, I noticed that my testicles were of uneven size, and one seemed to be lower than the other. When I touched them, I felt that the veins appeared particularly prominent, almost like earthworms coiled inside the testicles. Please ask: How can varicocele be treated quickly?

Doctor's answer:

Varicocele is a common disease in young and middle-aged men. It is a pathological phenomenon where the pampiniform plexus of the spermatic cord becomes dilated, tortuous, and elongated due to various reasons leading to impaired venous drainage. It most commonly occurs on the left side, but can also occur on the right or bilaterally. In clinical diagnosis, many patients with varicocele are found to have oligospermia, azoospermia, or infertility. For more severe varicocele, where sperm counts remain below 20 million per milliliter after three consecutive tests or there is testicular atrophy, and the varicose veins disappear when lying down, it is recommended to undergo high ligation of the spermatic vein. Varicocele can be cured, but the treatment period is usually long, and the condition is prone to recurrence after treatment. Therefore, medication should be used symptomatically during treatment.
