Features:
1. The Annual of Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences Journals (hereinafter referred to as the "Annual") is sponsored by the Society of Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences Journals, and the Beijing Association of Higher Education Social Sciences Journals has accepted the sponsor's to undertake this compilation task.
2. The positioning of the Annual is as follows: It comprehensively, comprehensively, and systematically reflects the important achievements of humanities and social sciences teaching and research in universities that year, collects the latest regulations and important documents related to humanities, social sciences, and journal work, and has become a large-scale reference book integrating academic, reference, and encyclopedic properties, with research, information, query, and collection value.
3. The Annual is published annually. This book, as the first issue of the 2003 Annual, includes materials related to 2002, and to ensure the completeness of the century's data for the development of journals in the new century, the relevant materials of 2001 are also included. In the future, the Annuals of each year will include the latest materials of that year.
4. The content of the entire book is divided into three parts. First, regulations, documents, and important speeches by leaders on the construction of humanities and social sciences and journal work; second, information and research achievements of Chinese humanities and social sciences journals and academic associations; third, approximately 500 abstracts of papers published by universities' humanities and social sciences journals in 2001 and 2002.
5. The approximately 500 paper abstracts included in the book are selected based on a combination of recommendations and careful selection from 300 university journals nationwide. The selection criteria are to ensure the quality of the articles while considering the coverage of schools and regions, so that the selected 500 papers neither compromise on quality nor lack representation in the academic journal community, and can generally reflect the development status of humanities and social sciences research achievements in universities nationwide in the two years of 2001 and 2002.
6. The 500 paper abstracts in the book are listed under 11 disciplines, namely: philosophy, linguistics and literature, history, economics, management, political science, sociology, law, education, arts, and others. Military science was originally included, but due to the limited number of such submissions, it was not listed separately. It is hoped that relevant institutions will actively recommend articles in this field so that military science can become a separate category in future editions of the Annual.
7. Due to the lack of experience in editing and publishing the Annual, the time was tight, and the manpower was limited, resulting in insufficient communication with universities' journals, which led to uneven recommendations. Although efforts were made to make up for it, the selected papers sometimes inevitably lacked balance, even with some shortcomings, and could not fully reflect the above selection principles. It is hoped that universities' journals will actively participate in the recommendation process so that the sources of papers selected in future volumes of the Annual will be broader and more representative.
8. The abstracts of the selected papers are generally prepared by the recommending units. If the recommending unit does not do this, the editorial staff of the Annual will complete it. The abstracts generally adopt a condensed form, aiming to retain the basic content of the original text in a limited space; for some longer papers, only one or two parts are excerpted to showcase their main content. The Annual of Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the "Annual") is a high-quality annual that integrates academic, reference, and encyclopedic properties, with research, information, query, and collection value. It is a large-scale reference book for Chinese universities' humanities and social sciences, sponsored by the Society of Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences Journals and edited by the Editorial Department of the Annual of Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences Journals. It has now been published. In the era of deepening reform and opening-up, people have high hopes for the development of humanities and social sciences. Since entering the new century, as the living force of humanities and social sciences research, university researchers and teachers have carried out research activities in various aspects of basic theory, discipline construction, and reform practices, and have published many insightful papers through university journals. The first volume of the Annual has carefully selected and refined the best from the vast array of journals, publishing more than 500 papers from over 300 journals. These papers cover major disciplines of humanities and social sciences such as philosophy, linguistics and literature, history, economics, management, political science, sociology, law, education, and arts, summarizing the essence of research achievements in important fields of humanities and social sciences by universities in China at the beginning of the new century (2001-2002), and showcasing the latest level of research by university scholars. It provides an opportunity for teaching and research personnel in universities nationwide and humanities and social sciences professionals to grasp the overall development dynamics of humanities and social sciences in universities in the two years since entering the new century, making it a premium product for universities and a classic in humanities. The "Chronicle of the Centennial Development of Chinese University Journals" published in the book systematically and completely records the emergence, tortuous development, and glorious journey of Chinese university journals in the past century, providing precious historical materials for understanding and researching the overall development of Chinese university journals.
