How should erectile dysfunction be treated?

Patient's question:

I have noticed that I no longer experience morning erections, and during the past few weeks, when I have been masturbating, I've realized that I can no longer achieve an erection. Please advise: How should one treat erectile dysfunction?

Doctor's answer:

Premature ejaculation refers to the inability to achieve an effective erection during sexual intercourse, leading to dissatisfaction. Its manifestations are diverse: the penis cannot achieve an erection under any circumstances; although unable to get an erection during sexual arousal, it spontaneously becomes erect during deep sleep, morning erections, or when exposed to erotic stimuli; although the penis begins to get erect during sexual arousal, it cannot complete normal intercourse upon insertion into the vagina, or it becomes soft before ejaculation even after insertion. It is divided into four categories: inability to achieve an erection, weak erection, or inability to maintain an erection.
