What are the methods for treating orchitis?

Patient's question:

For a while now, my testicles have been slightly swollen with a dull ache. Recently, they've started to hurt, especially when touched, and it's particularly intense. It seems there's also some swelling on the other side. I'm very worried. What are the methods for treating orchitis?

Doctor's answer:

High fever, chills, and testicular pain, accompanied by referred pain in the scrotum, groin, and inner thigh area.
3. The affected testicle is swollen and tender. If inflamed, it may feel like a fluctuating sensation of pus upon palpation.
4. Often accompanied by redness and swelling of the scrotal skin and hydrocele (accumulation of fluid in the tunica vaginalis).
5. In children, recurrent viral orchitis may sometimes be accompanied by swollen and painful parotid glands.
Rest in bed, support the scrotum, and apply local cold compresses. If the scrotal swelling is significant, use a 50% magnesium sulfate solution for (hot compress) to reduce inflammation. For severe pain that does not respond well to analgesics, consider spermatic cord isolation on the affected side.
Systemic medication should include broad-spectrum or Gram-negative-sensitive antibiotics, such as penicillin, gentamicin, and various cephalosporins.
