Is a hemangioma scary?

Patient's question:

I recently noticed a large bump on the back of my elbow. It's disgusting. You can see tiny blood vessels. Then my mom took me to the hospital for a check-up. The doctor said it's angiosarcoma. I'm very scared. Does angiosarcoma cause death? How is it treated?

Doctor's answer:

A hemangioma is a benign tumor. It is also a vascular malformation. This tumor is not very dangerous. Generally speaking, if the tumor does not have obvious symptoms and is relatively small in scope, it can be continuously monitored. However, if it grows relatively noticeably, most of them require treatment. Generally, surgical treatment for hemangiomas is primarily through surgery. Laser, cryotherapy, or local drug injection can also be considered for treatment.
