Features: This book took six years from the conception of its guiding philosophy to the collection of materials and the writing of exercises. Chinese students often find it difficult to master English speaking. A limited number of oral Q&A, as well as the memorization and recitation of short passages and dialogues, fail to improve students' ability to communicate orally in English in daily life. Students develop a fear of speaking and struggle to overcome the speaking barrier. To find a way for students to be willing to communicate orally in English, we conducted experiments and explorations, studied oral textbooks both domestically and internationally, and examined the specific environment in which Chinese students learn spoken English. We selected materials from over 60 books and periodicals from China and abroad to complete this "English Speaking Course." It has the following features:
1) The text topics are closely related to the lives and thoughts of young people, covering a wide range of subjects that are often of interest to and enjoyable for young people to discuss. Learning this book helps young people develop a strong desire to communicate orally in English.
2) The training progresses from easy to difficult in a step-by-step manner; the exercises are carefully designed and lively in form. "Elementary English Speaking" and "Intermediate English Speaking" each come with illustrations and exercises. Many of the exercise methods have been repeatedly used in our teaching and have proven highly effective.
3) It cultivates students' comprehensive oral skills, including abilities such as narration, dialogue, conversation, discussion, and debate.
4) The textbook is highly adaptable, suitable for students of different grades in school as well as English self-learners of varying proficiency levels.
5) Each set of textbooks is accompanied by English audio recordings, with the narrators being scholars and experts from English-speaking countries. The voiceovers are clear, fluent, and elegant, with standard and pure pronunciation and intonation.
