Features: One major challenge is the immense pressure that population growth exerts on economic growth, and the significant pressure that economic growth places on the environment and resources. From the mid-1980s to the first decade of the 21st century, spanning 30 years, a key demographic phenomenon in China was the annual addition of 10 to 15 million new people, meaning 10 to 15 million new births and 10 to 15 million new laborers. The direct pressure on society was that a significant portion of GDP growth each year had to be used to support the newly added population and provide employment opportunities for the new labor force. As a result, adhering to the focus on economic construction and striving to maintain high GDP growth naturally became the dominant value orientation of society. Under the condition that the extensive economic growth model had not been fundamentally changed, the issue of environmental pollution and resource shortages caused by high GDP growth would inevitably become a major challenge for China's economic and social development. At the end of each chapter, this book includes learning summaries, key terms, discussion questions or case analyses, and exercises. At the end of the entire book, answers to the exercises are provided, making it very convenient for teaching use. Currently, there are very few books on the market that specialize in actuarial studies of social security, and none are suitable as textbooks. This book perfectly fills this gap.
