Features: This book is part of the "Theory of Composition" series. The revised edition of this book includes some necessary supplements to certain chapters and additional exercises, with the main addition being a CD containing harmonic exercises. The author demonstrates the harmonic examples from each chapter and some of the harmonic exercises on the piano. The purpose is to help students using this book understand the usage and practical sound effects of chords and harmonic progressions in each chapter through audio, providing them with inspiration. A harmonic sense allows us to sensitively perceive the harmonic content and logical progression within a melody, enabling us to evoke associations and resonance with certain harmonic sounds from various melodic progressions. In most cases, taste helps us select the most natural and pleasing harmonic progressions for a given melody. Good harmonic exercises should have melodic and pleasant tunes. The harmonic content of the exercises should be embedded within a musically expressive melody. Only with this prerequisite can we create good harmonic exercises.
