Features: Zhou Yu came to work today and heard Lu Su talking with a colleague.
"Amazing, isn't it?" Lu Su said.
"Truly amazing," the colleague nodded.
Zhou Yu asked Lu Su, "What's so amazing?"
Lu Su said, "I can't tell you."
"Why?"
"If you hear it, you'll be unhappy."
"Really?"
"It could even make you cough up blood."
"Is that possible?"
"We're talking about Zhuge Liang."
Zhou Yu immediately changed his expression: "I don't want to hear anything about Zhuge Liang!"
Lu Su and the colleague then stopped discussing anything related to Zhuge Liang.
However, after a while, Zhou Yu couldn't resist asking, "Zi Jing, what's the latest joke from Shu?"
Lu Su said, "Zhuge Liang's memory is truly astonishing. He has five hundred subordinates."
"Can he remember the names of all his subordinates? That's nothing special!"
"Not only that, he knows exactly how many children each subordinate has, how old the eldest is, how old the second is, and how old the third is."
Zhou Yu scoffed, "I will definitely surpass Zhuge Liang. I am the true Memory King!—Zi Jing, how many subordinates do I have in total?"
Lu Su muttered, "You can't even remember that? Including the sweepers, tea pourers, table cleaners, chair cleaners, map hangers, and map collectors, there are six hundred employees in the Duju."
Zhou Yu was delighted and said, "Good, good!"
Lu Su didn't understand, "Good what?"
Zhou Yu said, "Good because my subordinates outnumber Zhuge Liang's. If my subordinates don't outnumber Zhuge Liang's, I will have to hire temporary workers."
Lu Su asked, "So, you plan to memorize the personal details of all six hundred subordinates?"
"Not that many," Zhou Yu said, "Just memorize five hundred and one, and I will surpass Zhuge Liang."
Starting the next day, Zhou Yu began his daily task to become the Memory King. His task was to memorize the personal details of each subordinate one by one.
That morning, Zhou Yu came to work. He asked the second person to arrive, "What's your name? What position do you hold?"
The man was taken aback, unsure if Zhou Yu wanted to promote or fire him, and quickly replied, "I'm Shao Laji, the deputy class leader of the sweeping team. I've held this position for five years, and those who arrived later have already been promoted to class leaders."
Zhou Yu quickly cut him off, "Answer my questions, don't waste my time with things that don't interest me."
"Yes."
"I asked you, how many children do you have?"
"Four."
"How old is the eldest?"
"Sixteen."
"What about the second?"
"Fifteen."
"Then the third must be fourteen?"
"Correct. The fourth is three."
Zhou Yu got angry, "I didn't ask about the fourth!"
"So, you're not interested in the fourth?"
"Correct. Because the intelligence about Zhuge Liang doesn't mention the fourth. That's enough. Your questions are over. Go sweep."
Next, a table cleaner from the table-cleaning team came to work. Zhou Yu asked for the cleaner's name and position, then asked, "How many children do you have?"
The table cleaner replied, "I don't have any children."
Zhou Yu was disappointed and said, "As my subordinate, even having only two children isn't enough. My subordinates' families must have an eldest, a second, and a third child. So, even though you clean the tables very well, I still have to fire you. Then I will hire a father of three children to clean the tables for me."
The deputy class leader of the sweeping team, who was working nearby, asked Zhou Yu, "Since you're not going to use my fourth child, can I officially lend him to this table cleaner?"
At that moment, Lu Su also came to work and interceded, "Gong Ju, since you're just practicing your memory, why not be lenient?"
Zhou Yu finally agreed, and the table cleaner borrowed three children from his colleagues.
Zhou Yu then asked the table cleaner, "How many children do you have?" P2-5
