How to treat balanitis well and safely?

Patient's question:

When taking a shower at night, I noticed a white ring around the head of my penis, and the head of my penis seemed a bit wrinkled and red. Recently, I also found that I don't urinate smoothly. After checking at the hospital, they said it was balanitis. Please ask: How can balanitis be treated well and safely?

Doctor's answer:

The main cause of balanitis is phimosis or excessive prepuce. Additionally, dirty sexual intercourse, drug irritation, or allergies, are also causes of sepsis. Generally, when an infection recurs acutely, the local area often exhibits dampness, redness, swelling, pain, and itching, even leading to recurrent erosion and superficial ulcers, accompanied by yellow purulent or milky foul-smelling discharge, along with a distinctive odor. In severe cases, purulent inflammation of the glans may recur. After an acute recurrence, the infection can cause adhesion between the prepuce and the glans, preventing the prepuce from retracting, or even leading to urethral stenosis. Some patients may experience recurrent urethral adhesion and stenosis after the acute phase, resulting in difficulty urinating. Repeated infections can cause thickening of the glans or prepuce, forming leukoplakia.
