What are the factors that cause prostate calcification?

Patient's question:

Previously, during a physical examination, I was found to have prostatic calcification. Since there were no symptoms, I didn't take it seriously. Recently, I've been feeling unwell and wondering if it could be related to this prostatic calcification. Could you please tell me: What are the factors that contribute to prostatic calcification?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, generally speaking, chronic prostatitis often leaves behind fibrotic spots. These fibrotic spots are calcium compounds, and on ultrasound images, they appear as multiple strong light spots with posterior acoustic shadows. They have little impact on human health but must be taken seriously. Prostate calcification spots are usually considered from two aspects: location and age. Prostate calcification is the scar left behind after the prostate undergoes secondary inflammation and fibrosis. It can be a precursor to prostate stones. Due to the special structure of the prostate, secondary fibrosis and stones generally have no effective treatment methods. For asymptomatic patients, treatment is also unnecessary.
