What are the symptoms of epididymitis?

Patient's question:

Checked for epididymitis, the main symptom is testicular pain, a sense of heaviness and fullness, and feeling tired and lacking energy. What are the symptoms of epididymitis?

Doctor's answer:

Chronic epididymitis is usually caused by incomplete treatment of acute epididymitis. The symptoms of epididymitis mainly include: tenderness in the groin area, testicular atrophy, localized skin redness and swelling, and if an abscess forms, the skin may appear dry, thin, and easily peeling. The abscess can rupture spontaneously. If follow-up is timely, the swollen and hardened epididymis is clearly distinguishable from the testis. However, within a few hours, the testis and epididymis may harden into a single mass, the spermatic cord may thicken due to edema, and secondary hydrocele may reappear after a few days. There may be secretions in the urethra. The inflamed epididymis undergoes fibrosis, causing the local area to harden. Under the microscope, scar formation is visible within the epididymal tissue, with impaired communication between the epididymal tubules and a certain degree of lymphocytic and plasmacytic infiltration.
