Patient's question:
I have developed prostatitis pain. The doctor said there are five essential tests that need to be done. Could you please tell me which ones they are?Doctor's answer:
The five essential diagnostic items for prostatodynia are:1. Detailed history taking should be conducted. For patients with vague complaints, the nature of their symptoms should be determined by analyzing symptom characteristics, recurrence patterns, and other factors.
2. The examination should not be limited to the prostate and external genitalia.
3. Routine urinalysis and urine culture typically show no abnormalities.
4. For patients with prostatodynia, a rectal examination should be performed to obtain prostatic fluid for microscopic examination of white blood cells.
5. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and color Doppler examination of pelvic blood vessels in patients with prostatodynia can reveal venous dilatation and blood clots in the prostate capsule, as well as dilatation and blood clots in the pelvic lateral wall and posterior bladder venous plexus. The internal pudendal veins may show stenosis or interruption.
