Features: A comic adaptation of an ancient Chinese classic comedy. The Story of the Western Chamber (Xi Xiang Ji) is the masterpiece of the famous Yuan Dynasty playwright Wang Shifu. Zhang Sheng falls in love with Yingying at first sight at the Pushe Temple, but Yingying has already been betrothed to Zheng Heng by her mother. The Pushe Temple is surrounded by bandits led by Sun Feihu, and Zhang Sheng writes to his friend Du Que, then the Western Expedition General, to rescue Yingying and her family. However, the old mistress breaks her promise and refuses to betroth Yingying to Zhang Sheng. Yingying's personal maid, Hongniang, uses her wit and cleverness to mediate between the three, helping Zhang Sheng and Yingying build a relationship and allowing them to meet secretly. Later, Zhang Sheng passes the imperial examination and the old mistress dissolves the original engagement, finally uniting the two in marriage.
