Features: Most English reading test preparation books introduce some problem-solving techniques. While browsing the table of contents of this book, the author found that it could summarize 80 such techniques, which greatly amazed the author. Moreover, judging from the title, the theoretical framework of these techniques seemed quite aligned with the spirit of the CET-4 exam. However, building a brilliant theoretical framework is one thing, while being able to explain these theories clearly and thoroughly is another. With a mix of amazement and skepticism, the author began reading the main text.
In the "Traditional Reading Comprehension" section, the editor analyzes the test-taking patterns and explains the problem-solving techniques from six aspects: text cohesion, sentence structure, logical relationships, main ideas, perspectives, and "lightning-fast answers." These patterns and techniques are presented in the order of "point—line—surface—comprehensive—shortcut," covering all aspects of the "Traditional Reading Comprehension" section. Additionally, specific problems are analyzed in detail. It seems that Ye Changqing’s and explanation are quite meticulous.
In the "Fast Reading Comprehension" section, the summarized tricks are particularly impressive, especially the "location technique," as it is an effective guarantee for achieving the "speed" requirement of the exam. However, under the constraint of speed, making accurate judgments becomes quite difficult. The following "True/False and Not Given (NG) Judgment Technique" and "Sentence Completion Technique" are precisely the methods to solve this problem. It is worth mentioning that the section on "lightning-fast answers" provides a detailed explanation of how to distinguish between the troublesome "N" and "NC" answers, which is very practical.
This book introduces knowledge related to English reading, strictly based on the exam syllabus and using the designated textbooks as a foundation. It fully reflects the new guiding principle of the exam: "while testing the core knowledge of the curriculum, it emphasizes testing abilities, especially applied abilities."
