Features: Fruit Basket = Magic Fruit Basket = Zodiac Love = Phantom Angel. Takaya Takahashi's Fruit Basket is truly a rare gem among works, with its captivating storyline. The dozen or so shape-shifting characters are not an outlandish plot device; instead, the humorous and comedic storyline, along with the witty and vivid character dialogues, have made Fruit Basket a beloved and outstanding work among many readers. It is also one of the main promotional works by White Company in recent years.
The story primarily revolves around the Takemori family, a wealthy and influential clan. However, 13 members of the family are possessed by the 12 zodiac animals and a cat demon, each with a strange ability to transform into their respective animals upon embracing a member of the opposite sex. Each person carries their own secrets and even heartbreaking pasts. The female protagonist, Shizuku, is like a rice ball mixed into a basket of fruits. Everyone initially thought she could never blend in with them, but Shizuku gradually wins them over with her gentleness, kindness, and considerate nature, helping to unlock many of their long-unresolved emotional knots and earning their love and trust.
Now, Shizuku lives with the Takemori family. They have a secret: they transform into the 12 zodiac animals! During a stamina run, Shizuku, Aya, and Yuki are suddenly confronted by their Takemori relative, Haru! The competition between Aya and Haru gradually turns into a fight where Shizuku becomes the stakes (?). Additionally, on the eve of Valentine's Day, Yoru returns to the Takemori household and proposes a shocking suggestion!
