How is phimosis adhesion obtained? How is this disease acquired?

Patient's question:

I found that every time I get an erection, my glans cannot be exposed. Is this condition considered phimosis? I heard that excessive foreskin can be quite harmful. Could you please explain how phimosis adhesion is acquired?

Doctor's answer:

Penile adhesion may simply be due to the remaining connective tissue strands that link the foreskin and glans during birth. It may also be caused by phimosis, which results from a small opening of the foreskin. Phimosis can be congenital, but sometimes it may also be caused by recurrent balanitis or scar tissue resulting from forcefully retracting the foreskin. Boys with phimosis are more prone to urinary tract infections. If phimosis recurs, the narrowed foreskin opening may cause: the foreskin to swell or the urine stream to become thin during urination. After a thorough examination, if the child has phimosis, the doctor may recommend circumcision.
