Publish Date: 2005-04-01
Features: To better achieve the goals of primary school English teaching and meet the needs of primary school students' English learning, it is necessary to develop a series of excellent extracurricular English reading materials. However, there are currently few English reading books for primary school students on the market. Existing books in this category also have certain shortcomings in their effectiveness for students, such as imported books often being too difficult for Chinese primary school students who are not native English speakers, and the production of domestic books being outdated and more focused on reading drills. Therefore, addressing the actual difficulties primary school students face in learning English and creating a set of extracurricular reading materials that are both enjoyable and beneficial has become a very meaningful task. Before this book went to print, I had the opportunity to be a reader. Taking on the role of a learner, I immersed myself in this series and deeply felt the author's pursuit of excellence and unique way of thinking through their simple yet humorous writing. From an editorial perspective, the author believes this series has the following four features:
First, the selection and content arrangement are very aligned with the learning psychology of primary school students. When selecting texts, the author strives to adopt a child's perspective, discovering beauty and joy through the eyes of a child. Second, it fully embodies the idea of "reading in joy and learning in reading." This series aims to provide students with a relaxed and enjoyable reading environment through various materials, pictures, and fun activities, allowing them to unconsciously learn English. Third, many reading materials are not only linguistically refined but also rich in meaning, making them easy and pleasant to read while also carrying educational value. In addition to helping students improve their reading skills, develop a sense of language, and acquire English knowledge, they can also cultivate thinking, develop intelligence, and subtly enhance overall comprehensive qualities. Fourth, the question design demonstrates strong, with some exercises and activities being original and catering to students of different levels.
Author He Jie has many years of experience in English education and research, familiar with the psychological characteristics, methods, and habits of Chinese students learning English. This is why he chose to break through with fun reading, developing extracurricular reading materials suitable for the current needs of primary school students in China. After reviewing this book, I believe the author's hard work will transform into joy and gains for a wide range of readers. This series can be used as both intensive reading material and extracurricular extensive reading material. If used as intensive reading material, it requires guidance from teachers and parents. Students need to thoroughly study each text, and for some short passages and songs, it is best to memorize them.
The translated part of the text is only for reference during the learning process. Readers should not rely entirely on the translation to understand the reading material, nor should they consider it the only translation method for the original text. Students are fully capable of finding their own ways to translate more beautifully.
