Features: In the 21st century, people will increasingly focus on and value mental health. The Constitution of the World Health Organization, adopted upon its establishment in 1948, clearly states: "Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity." Over the past half-century, people have come to realize that physical health alone is far from sufficient; complete health should also include mental well-being. Especially in today's highly competitive and fast-paced society, it is difficult to adapt to the rapidly changing environment without both a strong body and sound mental health. The widespread perception that psychological abnormalities seem more prevalent and pronounced today, aside from the obvious increase in stressors that induce such conditions, is also linked to the growing awareness and widespread knowledge of mental health, which enables people to better identify and recognize the various manifestations of psychological issues. However, psychological abnormalities are fundamentally different from physical illnesses. Sometimes, individuals can clearly be aware of their psychological problems, while at other times, they may merely feel that their mental state is different from usual, without fully recognizing it as a sign of psychological abnormality. Moreover, even if someone acknowledges a psychological abnormality, it does not necessarily mean they understand its type or nature, let alone how to adjust or correct it. As a result, people often feel helpless and desperate for a self-help book that can assist in self-assessment, self-adjustment, or in helping others (e.g., classmates, colleagues, students, children) identify and address various psychological abnormalities. Such a book should be both scientifically sound and practical, serving as a ready resource for,. Given the current scarcity of mental health support institutions in China and the difficulty of seeking help after a psychological issue arises, the desire to publish a practical self-help book on this topic is understandable and necessary. The editorial team of Wenhui Press invited us to write Home Psychologist, with the aim of fulfilling this task. In reality, we feel somewhat overwhelmed, for while we have extensive experience in clinical practice of psychological counseling and therapy, our knowledge is still limited, and we are more accustomed to theoretical writing, which may come across as overly academic. Requesting us to write a book that integrates scientific rigor, accessibility, and practicality is indeed a challenging endeavor. However, considering the societal need, we feel it is our duty to rise to the occasion. Whether it meets expectations will ultimately be judged by the readers. If it provides some inspiration and assistance to readers in preventing, identifying, adjusting, and treating various types of psychological abnormalities in a timely and effective manner, that will be our greatest success.
