Features: Our description of the concept of psychological assessment is: Psychological assessment refers to the use of psychological principles and methods to determine human psychological characteristics with numbers. There are three elements: First, psychological characteristics are the target of assessment, also known as metricity; second, psychological principles and methods, including observation, interviews, questionnaires, and rating scales, with the basic psychological principle being the stimulus-response behavioral principle. Through these principles and methods, various psychological activities related to the attribute to be measured are collected, referred to as behavioral samples. By analyzing behavioral samples, the value of the attribute to be measured is determined; third, names or numbers represent the results of the assessment, indicating the category, general type, order, and degree of the attribute to be measured. Different assessments may vary in the types, structures, presentation methods of stimuli, types of psychological activities, and sizes of behavioral samples. The discussion above has demonstrated that the purpose of this book is to provide a comprehensive introduction to the theories and methods of quantifying psychological attributes or psychological activities, and on this basis, to introduce traditional test theory and commonly used rating scales for test instruments in more detail.
