Features: With the progress of socialist material and spiritual civilization in our country, China's socialist legal system has achieved remarkable accomplishments worldwide. One by one, criminal laws, civil and commercial laws, economic laws, and administrative laws have been successively promulgated by the country's highest authorities. It can be said that we have now basically achieved the rule of law, and the legal system for China's socialist market economy has also taken shape. This will undoubtedly play a significant role in ensuring the well-being of the Chinese people, promoting orderly market competition, and enabling the government to govern according to law, as well as in building a socialist rule-of-law state.
The abstract nature of legal norms and the professionalism of legal language have created many obstacles for the general public in understanding legal content, while also posing certain challenges for judicial and law enforcement personnel in applying the law. Moreover, there are still many areas in China's existing legal system that need improvement. How to correctly understand and accurately apply the law has become an urgent issue before us. To help readers understand the specific content and judicial application of China's laws, we have invited experts and scholars from the Legal Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Peking University, and Southwest University of Political Science and Law to jointly write this series, "New Edition of Common Laws for the New Century." Following the order of legal articles, each of the nearly 50 commonly used laws in China is explained in three parts: key term definitions, understanding and application, and cases and commentaries. This provides a comprehensive description of the legislative intent and specific application of each article to prevent disagreements in application. In the "Understanding and Application" section, the content and application of the article are elaborated in detail. In the "Cases and Commentaries" section, selected cases related to the article are analyzed to deepen understanding.
This series focuses on reflecting China's recent mature theories and judicial practices. All content is aligned with the latest laws, regulations, rules, and judicial interpretations. Changes to relevant laws are clearly stated in the corresponding sections. Additionally, we will update the series in accordance with newly promulgated laws to ensure readers receive the most current information.
As this series is published, we have entered the 21st century. We dedicate this book to our great motherland, to our great era, and to those who have contributed to the development of China's legal system.
