Is it easy to treat childhood cerebral palsy?

Patient's question:

Doctor, hello. My son is now a little over two weeks old. During the prenatal check-up, there were no problems detected, but right after birth, the doctor told us that our son has cerebral palsy. Our family's financial situation is not good, and we have spent a lot on treatment so far. Could you please tell me if pediatric cerebral palsy is treatable?

Doctor's answer:

Cerebral palsy in children cannot be cured. Cerebral palsy is a residual phenomenon of congenital or acquired brain lesions. Currently, there is no specific medication to treat cerebral palsy, only symptomatic treatment. For example, if the hyperkinetic type of chorea does not improve, small doses of trihexyphenidyl can be used. To relieve muscle spasticity, Baclofen, botulinum toxin, and dantrolene can be used to reduce muscle tone, increase joint range of motion, and improve motor function. For those with epilepsy, antiepileptic drugs are used.
