Generally, each item or case is addressed individually, or each matter is governed by a specific ordinance, used to supplement the shortcomings of imperial decrees and resolve comprehensive civil and criminal disputes. It is noteworthy that the Da Yuan Tong Zhi Tiao Ge not only preserves the legal traditions, customs, and even linguistic habits of the ethnic majority but also incorporates the legal contents of the Tang and Song dynasties, adapted to the changing needs of Yuan Dynasty social life, giving it distinct characteristics.
