Features: China is a cradle of world civilization, renowned as the birthplace of global culture. In the long-standing and splendid Chinese culture, the history of the legal system is a significant component. It has endured for over 4,000 years without interruption, and its completeness, distinctiveness, and uniqueness hold a prominent position in the world of law. Therefore, studying and researching the history of Chinese legal systems is of great importance, whether for understanding its content, grasping its characteristics, expanding legal knowledge, and enhancing cultural literacy; or for advancing the construction of socialist democracy and the rule of law. With the establishment of judicial police colleges across the country, and in accordance with the teaching plans and syllabi for legal programs at the junior college level, while also catering to the practical needs of curriculum and facilities in these colleges, we have organized the compilation of this textbook, A History of Chinese Legal Systems. During the writing process, the views of experts and scholars from both domestic and international fields were referenced, and research achievements in the field of Chinese legal history were incorporated. At the same time, innovations were made in both content and structure, striving to accurately explain the fundamental knowledge and basic theories of this discipline. The effort was made to ensure concise content, clear lines of reasoning, emphasis on key points, and the integration of scientific rigor, systematic organization, and practicality.
