Features: The Ethnology General Theory we have compiled is a work that aims to guide itself with the theoretical principles of Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought. It primarily utilizes data from various ethnic groups within China, including the Han and ethnic minorities, as well as relevant research findings from various ethnic groups across different regions of the world, to elaborate on the fundamental principles of ethnology and its research objects, content, and methods. Many universities and colleges in China, particularly departments of history, anthropology, ethnic studies, and even sociology, urgently need to offer courses such as Introduction to Ethnology or Ethnology General Theory. Therefore, when the Department of Liberal Arts Textbooks of the State Education Commission invited the Institute of Ethnology at the Central University for Nationalities to compile a ethnology textbook that could reflect the new achievements of ethnological research in China and possess rich materials, we happily accepted this task. This is the very reason why we wrote this book.
