Evidence law is a crucial component of the judicial system. With a long history, a rigorous system, rich content, and continuous evolution, UK evidence law has had a significant impact on the development of evidence systems in various countries and regions, offering both theoretical and practical reference value for the improvement of China's evidence system.
This book is a mid-term achievement of the Ministry of Education's Humanities and Social Sciences Research Project "Research on Civil Justice Reform in the UK." It underwent several years of writing. From January to April 1995, the author began studying UK evidence law while studying at the Faculty of Law, The University of Hong Kong. From October 1999 to April 2000, supported by the China-Europe Higher Education Cooperation Project, the author conducted a specialized study on "Civil Justice Reform in the UK" at SOAS University of London, collecting a large amount of UK evidence law materials. After returning to China, combining teaching in graduate courses such as "Civil Procedure Law," "Evidence Law," and "Selected Readings in Professional Literature," with the aim of "learning from foreign experience to promote judicial reform," the author organized and guided graduate students in specialized research on UK evidence law. Through multiple discussions, repeated revisions, and continuous refinement, this academic monograph was completed.
