Features: This book is one of the college liberal arts textbooks organized and compiled by the State Education Commission, primarily intended for non-law majors in higher education. It is the revised new edition following the second edition of 1997. Coinciding with the convening of the 16th National Congress and the first session of the 10th National People's Congress, the documents released provided crucial theoretical and policy basis for the revision of the textbook, making the revision and integration of the book more comprehensive. A New Introduction to Law is one of the college liberal arts textbooks organized and compiled by the State Education Commission. It is primarily intended for majors in politics, administration, finance, economics, journalism, library science, archival science, and other non-law fields in higher education. To meet the needs of further developing socialist democracy, improving the socialist legal system, and deepening reform and opening-up, the teaching of socialist legal courses in higher education urgently needs strengthening. In line with this purpose, the writing of this book strives to be guided by Marxism, making new explorations in both system and content based on existing introductory law textbooks, aiming to improve the teaching quality of this course. Considering the significant changes in social life and social relations in China since the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Party Congress, as well as the roles played by various branches of law in real life, while also aiming to make the legal knowledge structure of non-law majors in Chinese higher education more rational, we have made new adjustments in the arrangement and proportion of the main branches of law discussed in this introductory textbook. Based on the above considerations, this book has made certain additions, deletions, and structural changes to the exposition of some branches of law, drawing on years of teaching experience in introductory law and incorporating important research achievements in Chinese law in recent years. For example, the civil law section of this book not only introduces comparative law knowledge and appropriately enhances its practicality but also incorporates family law as an integral part of socialist civil law into the civil law section. Another example is the litigation law section, which changes the traditional framework of discussing criminal procedure law, civil procedure law, and administrative procedure law separately, instead integrating them and discussing them by issues. We believe that this approach is beneficial for students studying introductory law, as it helps them grasp the essence of litigation law as a whole while also mastering its fundamental content.
