What are the symptoms of early prostate calcification?

Patient's question:

I previously had prostatitis, and in the past few years, it has been well-controlled without recurrence. The other day, I planned to have a follow-up check-up to see if everything was fine, but the result showed that there is a problem of prostate calcification. I am concerned that this condition might affect my health. Could you please tell me: What are the early symptoms of prostate calcification?

Doctor's answer:

Early in the condition, benign prostatic hyperplasia stimulates the control of the posterior urethra and bladder neck, leading to symptoms such as frequent urination and urgency. If treated at this stage, the results are excellent. Acute urinary retention occurs when, due to alcohol consumption, cold exposure, overexertion, sexual activity, or holding urine, the prostate and bladder neck suddenly become engorged with blood and swollen, causing acute intestinal obstruction and inability to urinate voluntarily. A very small number of patients may develop bladder stones, presenting with interrupted urination. Some individuals may also exhibit hypersexuality, sometimes showing frequent penile erections without sexual desire. Frequent nocturia, interference with rest, and excessive mental tension can lead to symptoms such as hypotension.
