Features: Composed by Comrade Hu Xingli based on his over 30 years of clinical experience in acupuncture and Tuina, and by reviewing relevant materials, this book, "Practical Acupuncture and Tuina Handbook," presents an innovative and rare approach to writing. The book is divided into two parts: the upper part covers concise theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine, meridians, acupuncture, and Tuina, while the lower part includes over 100 types of miscellaneous diseases across various disciplines. It provides valuable references for practitioners of acupuncture and Tuina. The book is extensively referenced, succinct, easy to understand, and clearly structured. In addition to integrating the theory, methods, diagnosis, and treatment of acupuncture and Tuina into one volume, it also includes techniques such as meridian point injection and small needle knife therapy, making it highly practical for clinical use.
10. The palm pressing technique is a Tuina method where the root of the palm, the thenar eminence, or the entire palm is used to apply pressure to the body surface. It can be performed with one or both hands crossed and overlapping. This technique is suitable for large, relatively flat areas affected by pain, such as the back and abdomen. When used on the back, the pressure should be firm, and when a certain depth is reached, gentle rubbing can be applied. Alternatively, the practitioner can press and rub while slowly moving the hand along the direction of the muscle fibers. When applied to the abdomen, the pressure should not be too strong, and the palm should rise and fall with the breath. The characteristics of the palm pressing technique are a large contact area and gentle stimulation, which help to relax the sinews, warm the center, and dispel cold. Clinically, it is used to treat conditions such as acute and chronic lower back pain, tightness of the spinal and sacrospinal muscles, as well as functional spinal scoliosis or lordosis. It is a simple yet effective technique.
