Features: About the 1st Edition of this book: This book is not only suitable for engineers in the fields of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and related industries, but also for students in the motor engineering field who are interested in EMC. The application software listed in this book is very useful for both professionals and students. — Excerpted from Comprehensive Technology magazine About the 2nd Edition of this book: This edition has been completely revised, and the references listed have been significantly supplemented. This edition provides a comprehensive discussion on EMC design, problem-solving, and EMC performance indicators in electrical equipment/systems. It includes fundamental theories, applications, evaluation, prediction techniques, and various economical and practical diagnostic options to avoid electromagnetic interference. This edition also includes updated and verified EMC diagnostic measurement data, as well as more than 900 figures and 500 formulas, far exceeding the 1st edition. It explores the latest verification/compliance test procedures. Additionally, it discusses the inaccuracies in current EMC testing and prediction methods. A new chapter on "Good PCB Layout Techniques" has been added to this edition, and it also describes the basic methods of computational electromagnetic modeling and other related new technologies. Electromagnetic compatibility is an interdisciplinary field that integrates theoretical and practical knowledge from many disciplines. The book focuses on the practical applications and design of EMC technology while also appropriately elaborating on the basic principles. Given that the author is a renowned EMC consultant from the United States and Canada with extensive practical experience, the book is primarily centered on engineering practice, using a wealth of valuable experimental data, charts, curves, case studies, and practical technical details to explain the principles and applications of EMC technology. It provides detailed descriptions of specific test methods for various EMC standards and ensures the accuracy of measurements. It also comprehensively introduces the procedures that electrical and electronic products must follow to comply with EMC directives and FCC regulations in Europe and the United States, making it highly practical. The main content of the book includes the basic concepts and principles of EMC, the mechanisms and models of various electromagnetic interference, methods to reduce interference and improve immunity, the biological effects of electromagnetic fields, system EMC and antenna coupling analysis, methods for EMC prediction and computational electromagnetic modeling, as well as the control requirements and test methods of various civil and military EMC standards. The book is presented from an engineering application perspective, with clear discussions, rich and detailed content, and practical illustrations, making it a valuable reference. It is suitable for technical personnel engaged in the R&D, design, manufacturing, quality management, testing, and maintenance of electrical and electronic products. It can also serve as a reference for technical personnel in research institutions, testing agencies, and large-scale engineering projects for EMC analysis, testing, and practical applications. Additionally, it can be used as a teaching reference for students and faculty in electrical and electronic engineering, information and computer technology, biomedical engineering, automatic control and mechatronics, and instrumentation and testing technology.
