How should we judge a child's ADHD?

Patient's question:

Difficulty concentrating, unable to listen attentively in class, hyperactive, disturbing others, procrastinating on homework. Test results: Normal. Past treatment history and effectiveness: None. What kind of help is desired: Unsure if it looks good.

Doctor's answer:

Overactivity: Most children with ADHD cannot stay still calmly. They are constantly engaged in various small movements. During play, they are excessively frantic and excited. However, some children with ADHD may appear relatively quiet. They are more likely to struggle with attention, such as not understanding classroom content when studying. In activities that do not require willpower, such as watching TV or playing games, children with ADHD can concentrate. Once it comes to tasks that require self-discipline, such as studying seriously or reading, their ability to control themselves is weaker, and they also cannot sustain their focus for a certain period of time.
