Features: The residential buildings, shopping malls, gyms, teaching buildings, laboratory buildings, single-story and multi-story industrial workshops, and so on that we live in or use, whether their functions are simple or complex, all contain structural components such as foundations, walls, columns, floor slabs, and roof structures. These components form the skeleton of the building, supporting it and bearing various external actions (such as loads, temperature changes, and uneven foundation settlement), thereby creating the overall structure. This building skeleton or the overall structure of the building is what we call architectural structure. Buildings have two key characteristics: one is their intrinsic qualities, namely safety, usability, and durability; the other is their extrinsic qualities, such as usability and aesthetic requirements. And the former is precisely determined by the structure! This book is based on the new national standard "GB50068-2001 Unified Standard for Reliability Design of Building Structures" and the corresponding load codes and structural design codes. It focuses on reinforced concrete structures in building construction as the core content, organically integrating masonry structures, steel structures, and other related materials. The book also includes basic knowledge of structural selection and seismic design for buildings. By studying this book, readers can reasonably select structural types based on building requirements, gain a comprehensive understanding of the principles and methods of structural design, and perform design work for general common structures and components. The book innovates, highlights key points, presents content that is both in-depth and easy to understand, and is concise and practical. It is suitable for professionals who need a relatively comprehensive understanding of building structure knowledge but are limited by academic credits and relatively basic knowledge of mechanics and mathematics, such as those in architecture-related fields (urban planning, real estate, construction management, building mechanics, water supply and drainage). The book features a large number of examples with novel problem-solving methods, avoiding rigid memorization of formulas. Each chapter concludes with summaries, review questions, thought questions, and multiple-choice questions, making it also suitable as a teaching material for adult higher education and vocational higher education in related fields, as well as a training manual for civil and construction engineering professionals learning about new standards.
