Features: This index is a continuation of the Index of Chinese Linguistics Papers (Volume A) and (Volume B). It serves as a reference tool for retrieving papers on Chinese linguistics published in domestic journals or collections from 1981 to 1990. The editorial style of this index is largely similar to that of (Volume B), with the following points to note:
1. This index includes papers on languages within China and general linguistic theories or issues, but excludes works on foreign languages.
2. The papers included are primarily written in Chinese; those in English or other languages are not included.
3. Relevant works from Hong Kong and Taiwan are included to the extent possible.
4. Works on Chinese published abroad are not included due to difficulties in collection.
5. Due to the vast number of works from this period, papers on primary and secondary language teaching and overly topics are included selectively. Works on these topics are better compiled as a separate volume.
6. The classification of this index follows that of (Volume B) but is refined based on the actual papers of this period, divided into ten major categories.
7. The categories in this index are more detailed than those in (Volume A) and (Volume B), with subcategories separated by "x." Due to limited information in each entry, the assigned categories may not always be entirely accurate without access to the original texts.
8. Entries often span multiple categories, but each appears only once to avoid redundancy. Readers are advised to check related categories for comprehensive results.
9. For dialect entries, we still classify them into the traditional seven major regions, but dialect regions do not correspond to administrative divisions. For example, Leyang dialect in Hunan belongs to the Gan dialect, not the Xiang dialect. Readers should note this when searching.
10. This index adopts a new citation format, with each page divided into two columns, and citation items separated by slashes or spaces. This design aims to provide a fresh look while saving space.
11. This index includes three appendices: (1) A list of referenced journals; (2) A list of referenced paper collections; (3) An author index, for the convenience of readers.
12. The editorial work for this index was initially undertaken by colleagues from the former Library of the Institute of Linguistics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Later, the library merged with the academy, and personnel dispersed, temporarily halting the project. Although work resumed, the heavy workload and lack of resources led to slow progress. It was only in early last year that a new working team was formed, and through the collective effort of all members, the project was completed. The manuscript underwent seven revisions before publication, and we hope for the readers' understanding.
13. The contributors to this index include: Xu Jiangchao, Yang Xiaojian, Lü Jing, Zhang Shunhua, Ma Baozhen, Ma Wenmin, Yan Zheng, and Yuan Zhang; external consultants: Ji Jin (Renmin University of China Documentation Center), Yin Ruxi (Central Radio & TV University), Zhao Shuqing (Chinese Academy of Sciences), Li Pei (Fangzhi Publishing House), etc. The project was led by Xu Jiangchao and Yan Zheng. Additionally, we extend our gratitude to Mr. Lin Shuwu, Mr. Wei Zhiqiang, and Ms. Zheng Zhangshangfang for their guidance in relevant professional areas.
This index includes approximately 30,000 entries and is twice the length of (Volume B), divided into two volumes. It is an essential reference tool for the study of Chinese linguistics, serving language researchers, university faculty and students, Chinese as a second language instructors, and secondary school Chinese teachers.
