Features: Environmental geology is an interdisciplinary field between Earth science and environmental science, and an important branch of environmental science. Environmental geology covers a very broad range, primarily applying the theories and methods of Earth science branches to explore the impacts and processes of natural factors and human activities on the Earth's environment within the range related to human production and life, as well as the effects of changes in this Earth environment on humans. Through recent years of teaching, the editor has found that students majoring in environmental science do not pay enough attention to Earth science content and lack basic knowledge and training in related disciplines of geo-environmental science. On the other hand, students from other non-environmental science majors are not familiar with current major environmental issues and the main content of environmental geology. Although there are currently various textbooks on environmental geology, such as "Environmental Geology," "Environmental Geology," and "Introduction to Earth Science," their content focuses on different aspects and cannot fully meet teaching requirements. Based on the understanding of the above issues, this textbook emphasizes both the discussion of basic Earth science knowledge and the elaboration of the emergence, development, and impacts of major environmental geology issues on humans, striving to balance both aspects.
