Patient's question:
This March, I naturally miscarried around two months into the pregnancy (it just dropped out when I went to the hospital for a check-up). An ultrasound revealed a chocolate cyst. The initial examination was at Minhang Maternal and Child Health Hospital, and I later sought treatment at International Maternal and Child Health Hospital.Doctor's answer:
After diagnosis, surgery should be performed immediately, as the leaked cyst fluid can cause pelvic adhesion, infertility, or recurrence and implantation of ectopic endometrium. For women of advanced age with a normal contralateral ovary and an uninvolved uterus, to prevent future recurrence, the affected adnexa may also be considered for removal.
