How can Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) be treated to have a healthy baby?

Patient's question:

In 2011, I was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome at the central hospital. I took D35 for half a year. Now I have been taking Chinese medicine for a month, and my menstruation is not normal. After being diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, I gained 30 pounds.

Doctor's answer:

Clomiphene, also known as clomiphene citrate or clomiphene, is now widely recognized as the first-line treatment for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Clomiphene induces the hypothalamus to release gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which in turn stimulates the pituitary to release follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), promoting the normal development of follicles. Elevated FSH levels are key to inducing ovulation in women with PCOS. Clomiphene treatment can induce ovulation in more than 80% of patients. The specific dosage is to start from day 5 of the menstrual cycle, taking 50 mg once daily for 5 consecutive days. Ovulation typically occurs 7–10 days after starting the medication. If the treatment is ineffective after 1–2 cycles, the dosage can be increased to 100 mg per day for 5 days. During treatment, basal body temperature should be measured to observe the presence of an ovulatory biphasic pattern.
