Irregular menstruation, what's going on? How should it be treated

Patient's question:

This month my period was not much. I had an ultrasound and also a manual examination. The doctor said there was a bit of vaginitis and cervical congestion. I took some anti-inflammatory medicine and a prescription called "Fuke Qianjin Pian." After a few days of being clean, it started bleeding again.

Doctor's answer:

Irregular menstruation has many causes, which are typically classified into two major categories in clinical practice: one is functional, such as menstrual irregularity caused by endocrine dysfunction; the other is organic, such as conditions like pelvic inflammatory disease, endometritis, and endometriosis, which can also lead to menstrual irregularity.
Go to the hospital for a check-up and take medication as prescribed. In the meantime, eat more foods that boost qi and blood, or try traditional Chinese medicine for regulating menstruation, such as angelica sinensis (Dang Gui), astragalus (Huang Qi), and motherwort (Yi Mu Cao). Drink plenty of water, reduce intake of spicy and irritating foods, pay attention to a balanced diet, and exercise more.
Wishing you good health.
