Breast diseases

Patient's question:

Nipple discharge was yellow one year ago and now it has a hint of red-black, lasting for over a year. Treated at Yancheng Maternal and Child Health Hospital, breast examination showed no lumps.

Doctor's answer:

The symptoms of the disease are primarily characterized by cyclical breast pain. Initially, it presents as a diffuse, dull ache and tenderness, most noticeable in the outer upper quadrant and upper central region of the breast. The pain intensifies before each menstrual period and subsides or disappears after menstruation. In severe cases, persistent pain occurs both before and after menstruation. At times, the pain radiates to the axilla, shoulder blades, upper limbs, and other areas. Patients often report palpable lumps in their breasts, while clinical examinations reveal only thickened breast gland tissue. Extremely rarely, isolated pubertal simple breast lobular hyperplasia may resolve spontaneously within about two years. However, most patients require treatment.
