Features: Sichuan residential architecture, from a geographical perspective, exhibits distinct characteristics across mountainous areas, hills, riverside locations, and flatlands, as well as in eastern, southern, western, and northern Sichuan. From an ethnic perspective, Han, Tibetan, Qiang, Yi, Hui, Miao, Yao, and Naxi ethnic groups each have unique architectural styles. From a social function perspective, there are differences in urban, town, rural, and pastoral areas. These historically formed residential buildings, created by the people of all ethnic groups in Sichuan through long-term production and life, are outstanding architectural achievements. Some are even considered treasures of folk architecture. Due to changes in lifestyles brought about by economic development and social progress, it is undeniable that some residential buildings no longer fully meet the needs of modern production and lifestyles in terms of functionality, structure, and equipment. Some have already been or are currently being demolished due to land-use reclamation. However, the historical, economic, and cultural value of these "treasures" will objectively exist and remain irreplaceable. In addition to protecting some residential buildings of high value, these outstanding achievements of folk architecture will undoubtedly remain an important source of inspiration for creating ethnic and modern architecture. The publication of this book will undoubtedly contribute to the exploration, organization, and research of Sichuan residential architecture, playing a significant role in promoting traditional Chinese architectural culture.
