Features: This book is the field excursion guide for the 4th International Cambrian Conference held in China in 2005 and the 10th Cambrian Subdivision Meeting. It introduces Cambrian strata and biotas in eight classic and hot research areas of the Cambrian System in China, including eastern Yunnan, eastern Guizhou, northern Guizhou, northwestern Hunan, eastern Three Gorges, southern and eastern Shaanxi, western Zhejiang, western Henan, and the Taebaek Mountains region in northeastern Korea. Each field excursion guide focuses on the rocks, fossils, and stratigraphic division of the Cambrian System in the respective area, as well as the latest research progress in systematic paleontology. The book is rich in content, introducing over 30 Cambrian sections, including the Cambrian strata sections of the "Chengjiang Fauna," "Kaili Fauna," "Wuan'an Fauna," and "Niutitang Fauna" type localities; the first "Golden Spike" section in the world for the Cambrian System in Huaquan Paobi, Hunan; three competing "Golden Spikes" for the global Cambrian System in Guizhou Balang, Wangcunnan in Hunan, and Duibian in Zhejiang; the type sections of the "Jinning Stage," "Meishucun Stage," "Wangcun Stage," "Youshui Stage," "Paobi Stage," and "Furong Series" of the Cambrian System in southern China; the type sections of the "Maozhuang Stage," "Xuzhuang Stage," "Zhangxia Stage," and "Gushan Stage" of the Cambrian System in northern China; and the famous "Taebaek-type" and "Wenyue-type" Cambrian sections in Korea. This book can serve as a reference for stratigraphers and paleontologists, students and teachers in geological and related universities, as well as regional geological survey workers.
