Feeling that many ancient books were "discussive yet lacking in detail, verbose yet unclear, sometimes omitting pulse diagnosis in their discussions, or sometimes providing treatment without formulas," he compiled this eight-volume work, dividing it into twelve sections: Menstruation, Menstrual Blockage, Leukorrhea, Accumulations, Fertility, Pregnancy, Childbirth, Postpartum Conditions, Breast Conditions, External Genitalia, and Miscellaneous Conditions.
