Features: The four-year-long Bosnian War was called "brutal," ranking as a model of the most horrifying aftermath of the two World Wars in the 20th century. Human civilization had already faded, and humanity itself was no longer present. Families turned against each other, siblings fought, neighbors drove each other out for ethnic cleansing, collective massacres, mass graves. To solidify the blood-stained achievements, the United Nations decided to establish a UN Peacekeeping Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina, once again deploying hundreds and thousands of peacekeepers to this hot land. The blue berets once again became a highlight on this scorched earth. For peace, they rushed forward, undeterred.
China, as one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, decided to fully play its due role in the important task of maintaining world peace. In January 2001, at the request of the United Nations, China first sent five peacekeepers to Bosnia and Herzegovina, a world strategic bottleneck. The five-starred red flag fluttered for peace on this Balkan Peninsula shrouded in smoke.
This book records the extraordinary deeds of these Chinese peacekeepers.
