Selected Works of Qi Baishi's Bamboo and Wood Carvings presents the world with the first-ever display of Qi Baishi's early bamboo and wood carvings. At the age of 15, Qi Baishi began working as a carpenter and, at 16, became a disciple of the famous carved wood craftsman Zhou Meizhi. His early bamboo and wood carvings became the artistic source of his entire life. Ms. Liu Yanping is a native of Qi Baishi's hometown and, along with her brother Liu Jianguo, is a member of the China Collectors Association. For over 20 years, she and Liu Jianguo have dedicated themselves to collecting, organizing, and researching Qi Baishi's bamboo and wood carvings, currently having gathered and organized over 100 of his early works.
