Features: This book is a collection of essays by the renowned scholar Professor Rao Pingzi on the study of Chinese literature in Hong Kong, Macao, and overseas Chinese communities. It is divided into five parts: Part 1, "Theory and Method," consists of academic papers on overall research; Part 2, "Communication and Influence," focuses on discussions of Chinese literature in different regions and countries; Part 3, "Interpretation and Analysis," examines works by writers; Part 4, "Lectures"; and Part 5, "Selected Prefaces." This book comprehensively and systematically presents the author's years of research on overseas Chinese literature and her contributions to advancing the field. The author's insights are unique, rigorous yet poetic. Over the past two decades, as evidenced by hundreds of works and numerous academic papers and literary critiques, particularly those submitted in recent conferences, this field has seen three significant changes: First, there is a new understanding of the connections between Chinese literature and the world. Second, there has been expansion in research perspectives and methods, becoming increasingly diverse. Third, a series of theoretical issues regarding the development of Chinese literature in the world have been proposed. In the writing of "history," how to organize and study several important literary events, issues, and groups obscured by history, and so on. These new developments suggest that in the new century, our research on Chinese literature will have a broader academic space.
