1 represents a "bug" plus a "Shu," but can we say that Balzac and Dostoevsky are not great writers? Can we say that their works do not have their own style and originality, which is a sign of great writers? Compared to their contemporaries, they do not have particularly novel expressive techniques, let alone making significant breakthroughs in artistic form. They explore truth from life, observe with their own eyes, feel with their own emotions, and think with their own thoughts, which gives their works a distinct authorial personality. Such works are the deep mountains and vast rivers where the bamboo grows wild, rather than artificially cultivated bonsai. They contain inherent beauty, and we can use Lu Ji's saying, "A stone hides jade and the mountain glows, water holds pearls and the river is charming," to describe the effect of their content and implications. We should also say that they are works inspired by innovation. Although the writers who created such works did not wear the imposing uniforms with gold trim of a marshal, anyone would acknowledge them as seasoned veterans of literature and masters who conquer the human heart.
