"Song of the Frontier" Drinking horses across the autumn water, the water is cold as a knife. The flat sand dunes are still under the setting sun, dimly visible Lintao. In the past, the Great Wall was fought, and everyone said the spirit was high. The yellow dust of past and present, the white bones scattered among the thistles.

Living together in Changgan, the two were not suspicious of each other. Always keeping the promise of holding the pillar, how could they go to the platform of waiting for the husband. Sixteen years old, the husband went far away, the (Qutang Yandui). In May, it is not safe to touch, the monkeys' cries are sad in the sky. The footsteps delayed at the door, one by one, grew green moss. The moss is too deep to sweep, the autumn leaves fall early. August, butterflies are yellow, flying in the grass of the western garden. Taibai 'August butterflies are yellow' thinks it deeply understands the physics." Sitting and worrying:: "How can I sigh and sit and worry." Sanba: Qiao Zhou's "Sanba Records": "Langba flows southeast from Baishui, winding three times like the character Ba." "Huayan Guo Zhi": "In the sixth year of Jian'an of Emperor Xian, Yongling was changed to Bazhou, Guling to Ba Dong, Anhan to Ba Xi, which is known as Sanba." "Xiao Xue Gongzhu": "Sanba, Bazhou, now Chongqing Prefecture; Ba Dong, now Kuizhou; Ba Xi, now Hezhou." Changfeng Sha: "Tang Shi Records": "Changfeng Sha is a place name, eighty li below Yanwen in Chizhou." Meng Jiao's "Heroic Woman" The (the trees wait for each other to grow old), the couple dies together. The chaste woman values suicide for her husband, she would rather die like this. The waves promise not to rise, the wife's heart is like an ancient well of water.
[Author Introduction] Meng Jiao, styled Dongye, was from Wukang, Huizhou. He secluded himself in Songshan in his youth and did not become a scholar until he was fifty. He became a county magistrate of Liquan. Han Yu highly valued him and recommended him to Zheng Yuqing, who recommended him as a military aide. He died soon after. Zhang Ji posthumously titled him Zhengyao Master.
[Annotations] Mandarin ducks: "The Ancient Notes": "Mandarin ducks are water birds, similar to ducks. The male and female never separate, if one is caught, the other dies of longing, so they are called pair birds." Waves: Xie Lingyun's poem: "Listening to the waves, looking at the peaks."
"Song of the Wanderer" The mother's hands hold the thread, the traveler's clothes are on the traveler. The thread is sewn densely before departure, afraid of returning late. Who says the heart of a blade of grass can repay the spring light?
[Annotations] Dense: Tight. Blade of grass: An inch-long grass, symbolizing the tiny. Light: Sunlight, symbolizing the parents' kindness.
Chen Zi'ang's "Song of the Youzhou Platform" Before me are no ancient sages, behind me are no successors. Preface: Remembering the vastness of heaven and earth, I sighed and shed tears.
[Author Introduction] Chen Zi'ang, styled Boyu, was from Shehong, Zizhou. He passed the imperial examination in the early years of the Ming Dynasty and was promoted to Lingtai Zhengzi during Wu Zetian's reign. He was transferred to the Right Supplement. He once submitted a memorial urging Wu Zetian to build the Ming Hall and Grand Academy. Later, when the dynasty was changed to Zhou, Zi'ang submitted the "Praise of Zhou's Mandate" and resigned from office in the early days of Shengli. The county magistrate Duan Jian was greedy and violent, hearing of his wealth, wanted to harm him, and arrested him and sent him to prison. He died of grief and frustration.
