Pioneered the concept of the CET "Wealth Book." This textbook is part of the "30 Days to Master CET" series—Basic Knowledge Edition. It is tailored for readers preparing for CET, CET-6, or IELTS exams, or for those with similar English proficiency. The book features the following:
1. True 30-day Breakthrough! The 30-day breakthrough in this book is scientifically structured based on a certain amount of learning content, divided into 10 units over 30 days (3 days per unit). After the 30-day review period, two self-assessment exercises are provided for readers to summarize their learning. By effectively completing this book, readers can then focus on exam preparation, ensuring a smoother passage.
2. Highly Humanized Service System Based on the Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve, the book arranges a learning plan for readers. Strict adherence to this plan will guarantee learning effectiveness (see Instructions for Use). At the end of the book, we have prepared a "Wealth Book" for readers to record daily learning insights and key challenges. After completing the book, readers can cut it out and bind it into a notebook for convenient review.
3. Comprehensive and Systematic Content, Authentic Material, and Logical Arrangement The primary goal of this textbook is to help readers "think in English and solidify their foundation," aiming to improve their language skills comprehensively. Each of the 10 units includes phonetic exercises, intensive reading texts, a variety of corresponding supplementary exercises, poems or fables as supplementary reading materials, and a challenging reading passage. Additionally, a test is provided after Unit 10 to assess whether readers' language abilities have truly improved. For convenience, the details are as follows:
a. Phonetic Exercises + Language Preparation In teaching, we found that many students struggle with "silent English" due to inaccurate or unnatural pronunciation, which greatly hinders deep language learning and skill development. To help readers correct pronunciation errors and enhance interest and ability within a limited time, this textbook includes specialized phonetic exercises, progressing from easy to difficult, with comparative practice for similar and challenging sounds. This helps readers clearly identify their issues and shortcomings, offering practical assistance in practice. Considering the second part's requirements for written and oral expression, the language preparation section includes vocabulary exercises or writing exercises to prepare students for related tasks.
b. Intensive Reading Texts The glossary is placed before the text to prevent readers from interrupting their thought process while reading. Important sentences and sentence patterns are listed after the text for repeated practice and memorization, ensuring that readers gain tangible knowledge after each lesson. Subsequently, corresponding oral questions test whether readers have retained text details, aiming to train comprehension, short-term memory, and oral expression skills. Next are exercises at the vocabulary and sentence levels. These exercises are unique, with 10 units designed to minimize repetition while offering a variety of practice types to enhance readers' interest in solving problems, thereby effectively helping them express their thoughts accurately in both spoken and written English. Finally, there are discussion questions, which can be answered orally in groups or through written essays, reinforcing the understanding of vocabulary and sentence usage.
c. Poems or Fables Reading poems and fables are culturally rich materials that reflect various aspects of Western society's thinking and life. Considering the general lack of emphasis on literature courses in Chinese universities, the poems and fables selected in this textbook are simple in language but profound in meaning, aiming to help readers appreciate the beauty of Western culture through reading. Each poem or fable is followed by open-ended questions for group discussion or collective classroom discussion.
d. Extensive Reading The extensive reading section in the latter part is of considerable difficulty and requires dedicated time and effort for repeated reading to fully grasp its meaning. This is not to challenge readers but to prepare them for the fact that most authentic reading materials are similarly challenging. The exercises for this section are English-to-Chinese translation, designed to test comprehension and expression accuracy. In addition to listing new words before the text in the second part's intensive reading texts, the book also provides the Chinese translation of the text at the end to help readers verify their understanding. All reading texts in this textbook are sourced from original materials or publications like Time Magazine, ensuring authentic and standard language. It can be used with teacher guidance or as a self-study book, for training oral skills or improving reading and writing abilities.
