English-Chinese Translation Practical Tutorial Study Guide. Revised Third Edition

Author: Guo Zhuzhang (Editor)

Publish Date: 1998-04-01
Features: Whether it is the first edition or the revised edition, the original intention of writing "Practical Course for English-Chinese Translation" is to serve as a teaching material for translation courses for undergraduate and junior college students of English majors in universities, as well as for self-taught friends who are eager to engage in translation. Considering the needs of classroom teaching in universities, some materials are not suitable for inclusion in the textbook; considering the vast number of self-taught and self-examination translation learners in society, this handling method inevitably becomes a major shortcoming. The main purpose of publishing this manual is to overcome this shortcoming and provide convenience for students studying English-Chinese translation both inside and outside the university campus. The revised third edition adds "Appreciation and Improvement Section," namely Chapters 12 and 13, which are written for postgraduate entrance examination candidates and graduate students. The content of this manual naturally mainly includes materials needed by readers for learning or taking exams that are not provided in "The Course," such as translations of translation practice materials, sample questions for exams, and brief introductions to experts in "Discussions on Translation." Any content that has already been clearly explained in "The Course" is not covered in this manual. Other content in "The Course" that readers can independently solve with the help of English-Chinese translation reference books is also not covered in this manual.
